St. Anthony Torso Repair...
Next I decided to look at the large hole which had been broken through the main statues' torso. I'd retrieved two broken pieces from inside the statue which formed part of the torso area and the page edges of the bible on which the Jesus figure is seated.


Access to the broken area was quite restricted, so I glued these two pieces using 5-minute epoxy resin, and held them in place until set.
This created a platform [shown here in orange] ready to accept the right half of the baby Jesus hip structure which had also been found inside the statue, broken into 7 pieces!


After figuring out the orientation of the hip pieces, I placed pencil alignment marks across the main joins and reassemble the pieces in one go using 30-minute epoxy resin.

[NOTE: with multi part breakages, if you reassemble one part at a time and wait for the glue to set inbetween, you can sometimes create awkward shapes & undercuts which make subsequent pieces impossible to fit without re-shaping]
The final image shows a dry fitting of the reassembled baby Jesus hip structure - as you can see, the join is not aligning very well due to undercut surfaces and some reshaping work will need to be done on these to create a better final fit.
